Also, similar to Carver’s ways: decision vs.

Not happy, but she believes, she did well (the Legacy conversation with Anders shows to me this). She seems to lose his dream in both case, but: the Circle was her decision, not a blind fate, so: she’s more confident with her decision. This one just my interpretation, but according to me, fits her personality. Other people always took the risks, to keep me free. Based on this conversation:Īnders: You’ve been an apostate your whole life.īethany: Exactly. She will recognize, that her magic serves the good, but she’s not a fighter – she always will be bitter about that accident… While I always felt, she chose the Circle reported herself – not because she “loves” it (she’s not that fool!), but because she wants to pay back for the protection. She’s worthy, and not a burden, while in the Warden path, her dreams about normal life, are dead. In those worlds, she learns, she can do for the freedom, she can fight for it. I prefer the Circle route to her, while this is painful.īUT: this route is the chance for a HAPPY END to Bethany. Her own sister/brother taught her: only what she able to do: to wait for someone else’s mercy, she and her fellows aren’t worthy for freedom, she’s worthy for a normal life. The system broke her, and already she “knows where is her place”: Hawke taught her. Much more than it seems: she doesn’t rebel, she doesn’t argue. And if Hawke let her live, she hugs Hawke, and says: Hawke really think, she deserves that mercy?… and many people who support the Circle interpret this, like she’s “happy”… but this is terrible. She tries to rebel, to help the others, but when confronts to Hawke – she seems accepts Hawke’s verdicts. And she can get a happy end: a chance to the normal life – what always was her dream.īut of course, she supposed be to justify every Hawke’s decision: if Hawke supports the system, she remains silent. If Hawke supports the freedom, she’s a revolutionary: she shows what she wants really. But at the end (if Hawke supports the mages), she learns that she can do something, not just to run and to try to avoid the troubles.

The Circle way to Bethany is the better way, but not because she’s “happy” in the Circle. To be a Warden is a great thing, just still, not for her. I'm sure, she's a perfect Warden, and does everything to be one. But at the end she will be free – if she survives the rebellion (and she does), she can earn her dream: a normal life.Īs a Warden she will never. She hates the Circle, just tries to smile.
